Faith Community Invited to Participate in Habitat’s 2021/2022 #BUILDforUNITY
$50,000 fundraising challenge provided by an Anonymous Donor
WILMINGTON, NC September 17, 2021 – Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity is calling all faith communities to participate in its 2021/2022 #BUILDforUNITY. This life-changing project will provide groups and individuals the opportunity to work shoulder-to-shoulder in unity and friendship to help to fund and build two Habitat homes. A generous anonymous donor has graciously provided a $50,000 fundraising challenge to the faith community involved in this build.
An open interest meeting regarding the build will be held Wednesday, September 22nd at 2 pm. Congregations of all faiths and denominations are invited to attend. Details about the project, which is slated to begin in December 2021, will be shared. For more information about #BUILDforUNITY or to attend the informational meeting, contact Jon Bailey, Faith and Corporate Relations Officer, at 910-762-4744 ext. 105 or jon.bailey@capefearhabitat.org.
This build will support the Santos and Reid Families who are working to achieve their dream of homeownership. Both families were displaced by Hurricane Florence and forced into overcrowded living situations. By partnering with Habitat, they are creating a stable future for their families and providing the space they need to grow and thrive. Their homes will be part of a 27-home community in Ogden.
This will be the second event of its kind for Cape Fear Habitat, which previously raised more than $100,000 thanks to participation from 26 congregations and a match from an anonymous donor.
