Procedimiento de Aplicación para Cape Fear Hábitat
If you believe you and your family meet the qualifications, complete an application. Your application and personal documents will be reviewed to determine if you may qualify. You may not proceed to the next step until all applicable documents are received.
Please print and mail or deliver the completed application to the following address:
Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity
Homeowner Services Department
20 North 4th St., Suite 200
Wilmington, NC 28401
You may also come by the above address to pick up an application, or call 910-762-4744 ext. 114 if you would like an Application mailed to you.
Our Credit Counselor will review your application and supporting financial documentation. If you meet the qualifications, you will receive a letter indicating whether or not you may proceed to the next step.
Meet with the Credit Counselor to discuss your financial readiness for a Habitat home. You will receive guidance about your particular income, and a budget and spending plan will be prepared. A credit check will take place, but a lower score will not keep you from being approved.
Meet with the Homeowner Support Coordinator to submit necessary biographical documents (such as birth certificates and social security cards) and discuss how you plan to make time to complete the sweat equity requirements. You will complete a short survey and briefly address other questions about the program.
In addition to an interview with the Director of Homeowner Services at this time, the program will be discussed further to ensure understanding and agreement, as well as availability and scheduling a Home Visit.
A sexual offender, criminal background check and a global terrorist background check will be conducted.
Two members of the Homeowner Selection Committee will visit with you and your family at your current residence. After the Home Visit, the committee will meet to review your file and a determination will be made about recommending your approval into the program by the Board of Directors.
You will start your Habitat Partnership! The first step will be to meet with the Homeowner Services Coordinator for an Orientation Meeting, to sign a Letter of Intent, begin working on your sweat equity hours, and attend the “Steps to Success” Homeownership Education class series!
